Winter activities
Downhill skiing – 60 m
to the Klövsjö/Storhogna ski area, with 14 lifts and 21 runs, offering everything from challenging black runs for elite skiers – such as Svartåshanget, Storslalom and Supersvängen – to family-friendly beginners’ slopes with button lifts, moving walkways, a warming hut, barbecue areas, lovely restaurants and sun-drenched spots. Via the Klövsjö Express, you can cross over to Storhogna’s green, blue and red runs.
The area has guaranteed snow from as early as November and offers authentic mountain experiences with significant vertical drops. Klövsjö has several restaurants and ski shops, but the atmosphere is calm and cosy, without the hustle and bustle found in larger ski resorts. During the season, activities are organised such as ski schools for downhill skiing and snowboarding, children’s activities on the slopes, and lovely après-ski with live music. Klövsjö is ideal for families with children, skiers looking for challenging slopes with few people, and those who appreciate a peaceful and cosy atmosphere.
The same lift pass also includes Vemdalsskalet and Björnrike, which, together with Klövsjö/Storhogna, form a large ski area comprising a total of 44 lifts and 62 slopes. The ‘Snöpendeln’ ski bus runs several times a day and takes you to all of Skistar’s slopes in the area, stopping at Hotell Klövsjöfjäll. However, it is possible to buy a lift pass for Klövsjö/Storhogna only at a significantly lower price.
Cross-country skiing & ski touring – 500 m
to floodlit cross-country trails of 3.2 km and 5.5 km in Klövsjö. At the summit of Klövsjöfjäll, you can also join a 155 km continuous network of cross-country trails stretching all the way from Klövsjö/Storhogna to Vemdalsskalet. There are also 18 mil of free, marked hiking trails leading up into the open expanses of the mountains.
Since 2006, Storhogna Högfjällshotell & Spa has been an official Vasalopp Centre, offering Vasalopp-certified training in a fantastic high-mountain setting, as well as a range of camps and courses in cross-country skiing.

Snowmobiling – 1.2 km
to the snowmobile trail network, which takes you out onto the bare mountain and into the surrounding areas of Jämtland and Härjedalen. Along the trails there are rest huts where you can either eat a packed snack or buy food on the spot, such as sandwiches, hot soup and waffles.Depending on how much time you have and which areas you wish to explore by snowmobile, there are various options when purchasing a trail pass. You can easily purchase your trail pass via the Cardskipper app. For snowmobile hire, Motorbutiken Klövsjö in the village of Klövsjö is the nearest option.

Snowcat – 19 km
To Vemdalsskalet. Treating yourself to a ride on the ‘vessla’ up into the mountains is an unforgettable experience, whether you’re following the ‘vessla’ on skis or riding on it yourself. Trips to Samevistet and Jaktstugan depart from Spårcentralen in Vemdalsskalet, and tickets can be bought on the spot.
At Jaktstugan, delicious waffles are served and you’re treated to an unrivalled view of the bare mountain. From Jaktstugan, you can either ski or take the cable car back to Spårcentralen.

Long-distance skates – 700 m
to Lake Svartåstjärnen. Lake Klövsjön also offers the chance to go on long-distance skating trips stretching for miles when the ice is smooth and clear.
Ice fishing – 700 m
to Lake Svartåstjärnen. Lake Klövsjön and many other fishing waters in the surrounding area are also ideal for ice fishing. Fishing permits can be purchased at iFiske.se.

Summer activities
Mountain Walking & Trail Running – Just round the corner
Throughout the area there are stunningly beautiful trails for walking and trail running.
Fettjeåfallet – 3.5 km
A moderately difficult walk that is a must for anyone visiting Klövsjö. At 60 metres in height, Fettjeåfallet is Sweden’s second-highest waterfall and is an incredibly beautiful sight, especially in spring and summer when the snowmelt is at its peak and the water thunders down from the surrounding mountains.
The hiking trail follows the Fettjeån river, initially along a gravel track and then along forest paths. On steeper sections, Nepalese Sherpas have built stone steps, which make the walk easier. There is a barbecue area by the waterfall, and in summer you can even swim right at the foot of the waterfall.
Mountainbike – 3,3 km
to Klövsjö Äventyr & Konferens, where you can hire bikes.
Fishing – 700 m
to Lake Svartåstjärnen. Lake Klövsjön and many other excellent fishing spots are also nearby. Fishing permits can be purchased at iFiske.se, and boats can be hired through Klövsjö Stenugnsbageri.
Swimming – 700 m
to Lake Svartåstjärnen. Lake Klövsjön has a bathing spot next to Klövsjö marina, which is easy to get to. There are also many wonderful mountain lakes that offer a lovely cool dip on hot days.

Klövsjö village
Klövsjö is a small village, known for its beautiful natural surroundings featuring forests, mountains and lakes, and fantastic views of the mountain landscape. The village, which has been named Sweden’s most beautiful village, is a popular destination for outdoor activities such as mountain hiking, skiing and fishing. There are also cosy spots here such as Klövsjö Stenugnsbageri and restaurants like Oppistuggu, which also has a brewery; there is also an ICA food store.
Storhogna
Storhogna is home to the award-winning Storhogna Högfjällshotell & Spa, which offers restaurants, a conservatory and a spa, all in an exclusive setting. There is also the Storhogna M activity centre, featuring a restaurant, a 24/7 shop, a bar, a sports shop with ski hire, a bowling alley and a gym.
